Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting & Ministry of Environment & Forests and Climate change also took charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in the Parliament House in New Delhi today. He was welcomed in his office by the Secretary (Parliamentary Affairs) Shri Afzal Amanullah and senior ministry officials.
Speaking to mediapersons, the Minister said that two important decisions have been taken today, firstly the Rajya Sabha Members have been assigned for the new states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by a system of drawing of lots. Secondly, a New & Social Media hub has been created in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting which will facilitate the various ministries to create social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. The minister added that this has been done in pursuance of the desire of the Prime Minister that all ministries should use the New and Social media to disseminate information about policies and achievements of the government and also get the feedback of the public.
