There is a casual vacancy in the Council of States from the State of Uttar Pradesh occurred due to the resignation of a sitting member Shri Rashid Masood on 9th March, 2012, whose term of office is expiring on 4th July, 2016. The Commission has decided to hold a Bye-election to the Council of States from Uttar Pradesh to fill up the said vacancy, in accordance with the following programme :-
